Wrong Rhoda Aston I'm afraid, but as usual Slowhands has sorted that for you in your other posting Nathaniel Hawkins/Rhoda Aston. You will see the date of birth for the Rhoda Aston who married Nathaniel Hawkins is quite different from those quoted in my posting.

An interesting factor of anyone following "my" Rhoda Aston born 5 Nov 1865;
I have marriage certificates for both John Hubert Marfell's marriages. On his first marriage to Rhoda Aston 24 May 1885, the witnesses were Edward Dutton & Clara Yemm a couple who then married 21 Sep 1885. Nothing unusual there, except that when Edward Dutton died 5 Nov 1905 and Rhoda Marfell nee Aston died 23 May 1908, Clara Dutton nee Yemm then married John Hubert Marfell on 2 Feb 1911, whose 1st marriage she had witnessed in 1885.

As I stated in my posting "My" Rhoda Aston was the daughter of James Aston born 20 Oct 1825 & Jane Smith baptised 24 April 1825 and for anyone following that family, here are the census details :

I have an Edward Aston in my family tree born about 1800 who married Susan Jones. They had a son James born 20 October 1825, baptised 25 Jun 1826 Ruardean. James Aston married Jane Smith 12 Nov 1845 Christchurch and they had 9 children that I am aware of and have census data for this family from 1851 to 1901.

My interest is that one of James Aston & Jane nee Smith's children - Rhoda Aston born 5 November 1865, baptised 14 Apr 1881 aged 15 Christchurch married John Hubert Marfell born 5 June 1861 baptised 11 Jun 1861 Crooked End Chapel.

I can list the decendants of Edward Aston of Hewelsfield(b 1762) leading down to me - Jeremy Aston (b 1962).

There is the possibility of a link. I recall seeing this Edward and Patience in my various searches but I am stuck establishing the birth details of Edward to establish his parents. Do you have details of the children of Edward and Patience of Coleford i.e. names, dates and places of birth etc?

The firm facts I have are links through my fathers side back to Richard Edward Aston a painter from Brislington. He was born 24.07.1808 at Hewelsfield.
In the Hewelsfield Parish Register his parents are recorded as Edward and Jane.
In the 1851 Hewelsfield census I then found Edward Aston age 88 and Jane and in the churchyard there is a gravestone for Edward (9.02.1853, age 87) and Jane (9.05.1866 age 88).

I believe they married in Hewelsfield on 2.07.1799 but need to recheck that one.

I could not find a record of the birth or marriage of Edward in the Hewelsfield Parish Record.

Hence my post.
