Hi Ellie Sorry for delay I've found your Susan Ambrey, listed as Amburg on the link I will send you to my other tree. I'm confused as to the Bourne connection though as I have a Jane Bourne widowed with children marrying a Ambury??

Hi Ellie So sorry I missed your posting, any spare time I have had since Xmas has been spent transcibing.
I have alot of information on various Ambury/Ambreys/Hamburys etc although Slowhands has given you loads of information already. I have two trees on ancestry, and another which goes back to 1677 just need the time to connect all up.

James was the illigitimate child of Patience AMBREY and grandson of William AMBURY. (I'v seen the threads on this family).

Also, Jane had two illigitimate children before she married James, Julie BOURNE/AMBREY and my ggrandfather James BOURNE/AMBREY.

I have carried out a search on Ancestry and whilst I do not have a subscription for USA records I have been able to locate the passage of this family to Boston in 1904 as follows:

I concentrated the search on Boston as I have relative who travelled to Seymour, Iowa in the same year and entered by that port.

I suspect you are on the right side of the pond to check further, beside Ellis Island, other points of entry would be via Canada, Boston, etc....

I can "see" a James AMBRY in the Ancestry New York Passenger list, and a James AMBURY coming in via Boston.

However I cannot "see" him via EllisIsland records, but can "see" a Margaret 1922 and mother Ruth AMBURY 1898 from Coleford who arrive in 1923.

According to the 1910 US census, Susan (nee THOMAS) AMBREY immigrated to the US in 1904. I found her husband James AMBREY in the Ancestry immigration records travelling without his family 19 Nov 1903. I still haven't been able to find Susan and her family. She would have been travelling with her sons,

Thomas
James
Roland
I've tried every purmutation of AMBREY and since they changed their surname from BOURNE to AMBREY ,I've tried the purmutations of BOURNE also. No luck.

I've also tried THOMAS in case she travelled with an aunt or uncle. No luck.

I've only looked in the Ancestry database as well as the Ellis Island. Any ideas? I'm stumped.
