A chap called Chris Witts is very knowledgeable about the Severn, and now does really interesting talks and also publishes articles/books. His web-site is http://www.severntales.co.uk/index.html and there is a contact area. Good luck.
Cheers, Celia

Nelmes - last of the Severn coracle fishermen. 1980's?

About 20 to 25 years ago, a Mr Nelmes from Lydney featured on TV as the last of the coracle fishermen in the River Severn. The report stressed how dangerous an occupation this was and, sure enough, shortly after the broadcast there were reports that Mr Nelmes had drowned.
Does anyone know anything about him or have any reports about this tragic tale?
