Alfred John Crabbe 1895-1974 (reply)

On Ancestry

British Army WW1 Pension Records 1914-1920

Alfred CRABBE

Date: 1919

Reg: No. 497614

There are 12 pages on Alfred - starting at Page 935.

On Page 942, he says his next of Kin was his Mother Winnie CRABBE - and again on Page 944 - Mrs W CRABBE (not sure if Winnie was a 'nickname' ) - see on the 'net' a nickname for Lavinia is Vinnie.

You could obtain his marriage certificate to confirm the name of his father (?)/witnesses etc.

I would scan for you, but each page is surrounded by black and my cartridges would run out quickly!!! - any problems, I'll scan Page 942 and send.

Hope this helps.

Alfred John Crabbe 1895-1974 (reply)

Hi
Thank you very much for the info. I know he was in the RAMC and have some information from Ancestry, but not as much as you have. My dad said that he used to live at 55 High Street. The only difference is that I have his mother down as Lavinia (father-William) from the 1901 census in Kent as Slowhands listed in his reply. Where do you get the army records from? There is a lot of detail in them that I didn't know about. I don't think my dad knew about the malaria.

Thak you for your help.

Alfred Crabbe 1895-1974

Hi
I wonder if anyone can help find my grandfather. I think he was born in Kent, but married Gladys Middlecote in 1921 and lived in Lydney from about 1919. There is a photo of him on this site as a police war reserve.
I think I have traced him, but am not sure if I have the correct parents.
Any help would be appreciated.

Rose
