My great grandfather was returned from the GLA, where he died, to Viney Hill for burial.

Might he be buried in a family plot?

Thank you for these replies. I have located records at the Glos Archives but they are not open, but.....has anyone obtained records under the Freedom of Information Act? I have had WW2 records this way (as a researcher not a relative)....
I am wondering if there was a burial site at Coney Hill hospital (not Coney Hill Cemetery)or, where are the crematoriam records??? Did they do cremations in 1920?

I suspect that you will run into medical confidentiality issues for pre 1990 records as a non relative, FoI would not override medical confidentially.

http://www.2gether.nhs.uk/ is the correct NHS Foundation Trust - if they have the records, however we think they are archived.

Do you know if I can have access to Gloucester Asylum records at the Record Office?

Do you know where he is likely to have been buried? Hie father and mother died in 1934 and 1943 and do not seem to be buried in Longhope - I wonder if they and Arthur were buried together ? Huntley or Nottingham perhaps ?

However, you may be able to apply to Gloucestershire Health people(sorry don't know who exactly)through Freedom of Information,to access information.If they will do this , you would have to supply proof of connection to the person,through birth certificates etc. and would have to convince them that no-one would be "harmed" by the revelation of information.

I did this,to find out the circumstances of an aunt of mine,who was in a large high-profile mental institution in the 1950s (not in Gloucestershire). As all family of that generation are dead and the aunt in question had no children,-- I supplied certificates to prove that 1)I am my father's daughter 2)My father was his father's son 3)My aunt was my father's father's daughter 4)My aunt was married to her husband 5)My aunt was dead 6)My aunt's husband was dead.

A bit involved, but worth a go.

It would seem the 100 year rule may apply to Arthur Evan CONSTANCE records.
