Mark Shakell (Shakles/Shakells) was my great-grandmother's younger brother. My g-grandmother was Mira/Myra Shakell (1848 - 1889). Myra married Thomas Jones (my g-grandfather). Mark married Elizabeth Jones - no relation as far as I can tell. When Myra died her sister, Sarah became Thomas' 'housekeeper'.

Myra and Mark were among the 10 children of James Shakell (1819 - 1900) and Ann Moore (1823 - 1895)

Ann NELMES - first marriage to George HARRIS (Sailor) is on the FoD records for Awre - 18 April 1839 - 5 years before Anne HARRIS married William FENNELL in 1844

On the 1851 census (given before, William was in prison - Ancestry : 29 March 1851, - 2 weeks for Larceny)

the rest of the family are at Westbury on Severn Union Workhouse on the same census

I have William Simpkins down as b. 1806 and the information I copied is incorrect.
Going back one generation I have:
Simpkins, William
b. 1834
Redmarley, Worcestershire, England
d. 1880
m. Butler, Ann
SO this would be the other William Simpkins son, I was trying to go back to the father, 1806 as I have NO documents to prove any of this.

Susan, please check and perhaps correct your post, methinks the likely birthdate is maybe 1826 or somesuch, definitely not 1806 as you give his mother's birth as 1802 ?

Hi Susan, welcome to the forum, dont worry about asking we've all been beginners at some point :-)

First step is always to search this forum for prior threads, very often someone else has already covered a query to some extent. That said I did see your post last night and searched for the various names you mention, absolutely no luck re the rather unusual Shakel name, similarly not a mention in the Parish Records even allowing for the various spelling variations, why do you think theres a Dean link when Inkberrow is a long way from here (other side of Worcester I think) ?

Fennel is a far more common Dean name with over a hundred entries in the site's Parish Records section.

Again Halford is fairly common, searching the forum I see several prior threads along the Severnside area (Blakeney, Awre etc), so fitting your likely area. Similarly I suggest you thoroughly search the Parish Records, tick the Soundex box to get all spelling variations, there are several Thomas's altho admittedly no perfect matches to your date,

maybe ?
