Thank you MPGriffiths

I do not think the births of 1791 and 1795 on a Public Members Tree on Ancestry are correct as I believe the following burials (from this site), for William and Elizabeth Roberts, are William Roberts and Elizabeth Evans who married 28 Sep 1815 -

Newland 9 Dec 1823 Elizabeth Roberts residence Whitecliff, age 35 - born c 1788

Newland 3 Jan 1824 William Roberts residence Whitecliff, age 46 - born c 1777 **

** my reasoning for William Roberts, son of Anthony and Mary, bap 1776, to be considered

Will of William Roberts - 1 Dec 1847 - is William Roberts bap 1768, died 10 Dec 1846, married to Hannah Williams

The marriage between William ROBERTS and Elizabeth EVANS was by Licence (record on this site) - giving their ages as over 21. One witness transcribed as Shvinous ROBERTS***

There are baptisms for their children also on Fod Records - at various places, but residence : Whitecliff

Once again there is a Public Members Tree on Ancestry - giving William ROBERTS date of birth as 1791 and Elizabeth EVANS as 1795.

One son being Abel ROBERTS (married Ann TRIGG according to the tree **) - christened 25 April 1819 at Newland - this on the the Public Members Tree

1841 Census, Dean Forest
Haseley

Abel ROBERTS - 23
Ann - 23
Thomas - 1
Mary ROBERTS - 18

** Gloucestershirebdm

Abel ROBERTS married Ann TRIGG - Hempsted St Swithun 1849

***

There is a Will of William ROBERTS - 1 December 1847 of East Dean Hawthorns - talks about his wife Hannah and son Theophilus ROBERTS

---

Marriage at Newland 20 October 1790

William ROBERTS married Hannah WILLIAMS

Thank you for the information you have provided.

Re the Will of Anthony Roberts bap 1719 bur 1797 - his wife was Mary Vaughan bap 1730 and buried 5 Apr 1801. From this information it would appear that Mary Vaughan is the mother of Henry and Elizabeth, and Moses Roberts,a witness at Elizabeth's marriage to John Marfell would be Elizabeth's cousin - nephew of Mary, son of Phoebe Vaughan and William Roberts. At Henry Roberts' marriage to Lucy Dawes, Jonathon Roberts witness, I am assuming is brother of Henry Roberts and further confirmation of Mary Vaughan as mother.

Have checked the Parish Registers on this site, and Absalom Roberts, Henry Roberts' grandson was bap 19 Oct 1828 at Drybrook, 'base son of' Mary Roberts of Ruardean Hill.

I am also searching for William Roberts who married Elizabeth Evans in 1815 at Newland and as William Roberts bap 1776 is a possibility I wondered if anyone had a marriage for this William in their tree.

Any information would be of great assistance.

Can you be a bit more specific with your question.

I have 26 William Roberts in my Family Tree, including the one baptised in May 1776. I don't have a marriage for him, but that doesn't mean he was not married, more that he is not significant in my tree.
