DUFFIELD and KING 1851 census (reply)

Dear Bertha and Slowhands,

Thank you so much for all that hard work, I guess that really does rule out my William being Rachael's husband. He was definitely born late 1824 to early 1825 and baptised in Ashley, Wilts, father John mother Hannah. I just thought there was a possibility that it could be him because of his father's name on the marriage record, and the fact that a another member of the King family of Ashley went to Hewelsfield.

They are very hard to trace once they grew up and left home, so I thought finding this record was a lucky break.

Thank you both again,

Kind regards,
Pat

DUFFIELD and KING 1851 census

I have found a marriage record at St Briavels in 1851 Rachael Duffield to William King on 30 Dec 1851. His father is listed as John but unfortunately William's age age is listed as full. I have also found Rachel Duffield with her family on the 1851 census of St Briavels.

I am interested in William King, her husband, and I am hoping that someone can advise me if they have any details of him. I cannot find him on the 1851 Census of St Briavels, but it is possible that he is residing in another close area.

I am looking for William King, born c 1826, probably working as a farm labourer or allied occupation in either the 1851 census or the 1861. William was born in Ashley, Wiltshire, but this could be listed as Tetbury, Glous. I do not know if Rachael's William is the one I am seeking, but I do know that we have another of William King's family residing at Hewelsfield in 1861 with his wife Sarah. He arrived in Hewelsfield after the 1851 census. These are our great grandparents.

So, if anyone can advise me about William and Rachael or locate William King on the 1851/61 Census I will be very grateful.

Thank you,

Pat
