That is how I ended up with a Strimmer instead of a (H)EDGE Trimmer!

I looked this marriage up when I was in Gloucester on Wednesday and the Bride`s name is ULING. As it is written it could easily be transcribed as WING.

You can always put in a request to the FOD site - to check the Register - I have done this a couple of times and have had a very good quick response.

Under the heading 'Possible Transcription Errors'

with HULIN/HULING - an explanation might be there.....

I've been to the Records Office a few times - and these documents are very old, and sometimes on Parchment etc. and the Transcribers must have a very difficult job.

Thanks for all the info.I see what you been by WING/HULIN.I did spot the name Hester Wing but discounted it. I will look at her again as your info looks promising.
George Thomas is my 3rd great-grandfather on my mothers side so I am looking into the Thomas family history.Not an easy name to track. My maiden name is Thomas so I am counting them in my sleep.

This may be it - if you try to read/or say HULIN/WING ??? - sometimes this HULIN is spelt HULING

If you look at the FOD records : there is a baptism of a Caroline HAINES McLAREN - 15 June 1834, at Mitchel Dean - parents John (Grocer) and Mary Anne

and FOD records? Johannah MATTHEWS, christened 27 May 1792, residence Clearwelll at Newland, parents James & Johannah

so they probably were working in Mitchell Dean

I have searched and searched but cannot find a maiden name for Esther,wife of George THOMAS(1810-1877).They married in 1832 at St Briavels and had 10 children.They lived at The Fence,St Briavels.
Any information will be much appreciated.
