Colin

I know we have had email correspondence in the past and I have you in my Family Tree as 6th cousin once removed.

We may be able to bridge this gap with shared information and I have emailed you separately. My Family Tree software enables me to nominate any person in my Family Tree as the source and work out the relationship between the "new" source and any other person in my Family Tree. I temporarily nominated you as source and from my information I also have Joseph Meek 1782 listed as your 2nd cousin 5 times removed. However as my information is obviously not as complete as yours for this line within my tree, with you as source I find you not related to Elizabeth Dovey or Mary Tingle nee Yemm - I repeat this is because my information is not as complete for your line, I am not suggesting that you are not !!

As per my other posting, I am not related to Elizabeth Dovey 1759 but am related to some of her descendants following her marriage to Charles Baldwin. Have you followed Sarah Tingle 1718 ? She is the sister of Elizabeth Tingle 1732 (Mother of Elizabeth Dovey nee Tingle) Sarah Tingle married James Waldin and their ancestors lead you to Baldwin's, Meek's and Marfell's.

Thomas Meek 1819 Bailey Hill (reply)

Hi Jim & Colin,
Please accept my apologies for foolishly & incorrectly listing John Meek's 1826 Baptism, even now after reviewing it all again I don't understand why I posted that !?!. I'm sure I used the advanced search which wasn't foolproof as neither of the two Hannahs' surnames are recorded, hence the perhaps understandable error re George 1823, but wrt John...??!!...
Perhaps the after effects of a tea-total festive season thro' ill health !
Then again maybe it was a subconcious result of my lifelong passion of British pop music from the 50s and early 60s, I have many of Joe Meek's RGM records in my collection... - I hadn't realised he was linked to your Meeks until your post.
Anyhow sorry again, good luck with extending your family trees past this stage.

I think we are very similar in relationships and connections to this family, except that I believe I am related to Elizabeth Dovey through her grandmother Mary Yemm c1687 (my g6-grandmother). Joseph Meek 1782 is a 2nd-cousin 5 times removed.
It would be nice to link the two Meek lines.

Jeff

I should firstly stress that the information below are the facts as I see it. I could be wrong and with similary named parents it is open to speculation.

You have some of the baptism's correct, Thomas & Lydia are 2 of the 10 children for Joseph Meek 1771 & Hannah Baldwin. George 1823 is one of the 13 children for Joseph Meek 1782 & Hannah Cooke.

John 1826 is the son of Joseph Meek 1805 & Harriett Edwards 1808/1828, Joseph 1805 being the son of Joseph Meek 1771 & Hannah Baldwin. After the death of Harriett Edwards Joseph Meek 1805 remarried to Sarah Wall 27 Dec 1840. They had 5 children and their great grandson Robert George Meek 5 Apr 1929/3 Feb 1967 was famous for writing Telstar - A blue plaque at 1 Market Square Newent commemorates his birthplace.

Not surprisingly I had noted the two baptism's for Joseph Meek, but cannot say which - if either is correct.

I am afraid I have not pursued him further. He is not actually related to me, but some descendants are, which is the reason he is in my tree. Similarly Hannah Baldwin 1779's parents Charles Baldwin 1755 & Elizabeth Dovey 1759 are not related to me but 4 of her 10 siblings either become related by marriage, or their children's marriages do.

Joseph Meek 1782 who married Hannah Cooke is related to me and I would like to know Joseph Meek 1771's ancestors to see if I can tie him to earlier Meek's

Can you go any further back on Joseph Meek 1771? I would love to be able to link his Meek line into my more mainstream Meeks if possible, other than via subsequent marriages in later generations.

Thanks
