Thanks for your reply. Yes, this is the same Thomas Saunders/Ivy Ellis. Ivy was my husband's grandmother too. I could do with any information you have, as I am compiling his family tree for him, since he has lost contact with all his relatives. He is the son of Kenneth Saunders, Thomas and Ivy's son.

Thanks Slowhands, you've set me off on another path now, I've found Frederick William Ellis in the 1881 Census......Living in London. It lists the entire families birthplace as Philips pore,Gloucester. Any Ideas where this could be?

Fantastic !! Really useful. James Sandford (Baptised 1775) is my GGGG Grandfather Via Caroline Sandford who married James Saunders(1858-1937) of Lydney. A completely new line to my family tree.
