Hi again macast,
just belatedly remembered this old photo which is believed to be of some of the lads from Double View school in their WW1 uniforms, and their headmaster John Emery. Sadly we have very few names to match the faces, but still hope it's of interest to you. I've not got the time now, but it maybe worth comparing the faces on your "Barnard" photos with those on this one ?

thanks @HarryBrook … how sad this is.
so many lost from one school... one community.

I see two BARNARD boys there.... both related to my partner Mike. they were from the same family.... the only two boys.... aged 21 and 23.... 'lost' within a year of each other!

Yet more proof of the terrible impact this War had on the communities of the UK, so many men from just one school....

Hope you had time to watch tonight's Antigues Roadshow, a special episode from the Thiepval Memorial, very interesting and sad too.
