Henry MORGAN born 1822 in Coleford (reply)

I have the following in my family tree: JAMES MORGAN ; Baptised: 27th April 1794, Newland (Newland P227 IN 4/3). He is the brother of my direct ancestor Samuel Morgan. I have traced the family back to about 1650 in the FOD though the probability of this being correct is uncertain.

Have you had your Y-DNA tested? Since my 8-marker DNA is very unusual, you would only need to go to the expense of having the 8 marker test rather than the 24 or 37 marker tests - which are more expensive - to indicate the probability of our being related in the near past or not.

Henry MORGAN born 1822 in Coleford

Hello
Iam looking for any information on this particualr branch of the Morgan family particularly pre- 1841.
My ggg grandfather was Henry Morgan born 1822 in Coleford. He married Maria Hamblin in 1840 and went on to have 9 children, the eldest Moses (born 1843) in West dean is my gg grandfather.
He was married in 1864 (Westbury)to an Elizabeth (Eliza) so far I havent been able to find her maiden name.
They went on to have 8 children, one of the youngest, John, is my g grandfather.
John was born in Durham as the family seemed to of moved there shortly after 1870.
All were coal miners.
Henry Morgan's father was James Morgan born about 1779 in St Briavels. he married Anne Wood in 1804 and had up to 11 children. Henry was the 10th born.
James and Anne were still alive in 1861 living in Newland, James was working as a Toll collector, he was 81 and Anne was 83.
Does this family seem familiar to anyone? I can provide lots more information if it is required!
Thanks
Sue
