1841 census (reply)

Hi Sylvia,

I have been through the images of the 1841 for Mitcheldean on Ancestry and the family already mentioned are the only likely candidates. The only other info given on the census is that they were all born in the county.

Two other Powell families in Mitcheldean are

lodging with a Gibbs family at High Crop, Ann 40, John 15, [illegible] 9, Ann 9, and Elizabeth 2. All born in county

at Mill End Street, William 55 Independent, Sarah 53, William P[ditto]Gibbs 17, and Ann 15. All born in the county.

There is a Sarah Powell 20 in another houshold.

I can only wish you good luck with your search for now, as I shall be busy with other things for a few days. Perhaps your local library or nearest LDS Family History Centre has Ancestry.

May

1841 census (reply)

Hi May
Thanks for the reply but I`m not sure if its my James and Ann. Loking at the list it seems difficult to see where my 2x great grandfather William POWELL would have fitted in He was christened at Coleford Feb. 16th 1813 but his birth would have been earlier so could be!If the image gives more info., I would be very grateful for it. Thanks again
Sylvia

1841 census (reply)

Hi May
Thanks for answering but I`m feeling slightly bewildered at the answer. I thought I was asking for an entryfor a James and Ann POWELL of Mitcheldean who were probably my 3xgreat grandparents Did I quote the numbers wrongly? They are box 3 365/9 11If I did I apologise but I wouldn`t waste other people`s time with trick questions when asking for help
best wishes
Sylvia
