Elizabeth Forty was my great grandmother and I have her certificate of baptism..dated 1833 My grandmother was Elizabeth Jones, sister of John Samuel Jones. There were other siblings, two of which survived.

A photograph was posted by Gill Best showing her grandmother, Lizzie Clementine Jones, and asking if anyone knew anything about the family. I am doing research into my family history and must be related to the lady in question. My grandmother was the sister of John Samuel Jones in the photo (great grandparents of the lady who posted the request).
I am in close contact with John Samuel and Charlotte Waite's grand-daughter,Joan, whose mother was a sister of Lizzie Clementine.
I would love to get in touch, so that we can share information.

You probably know all this but just in case..............

Wait, Waite etc. and White are all the same name. There were a lot in Soudley/ Bradley Hill and and you've probably picked them all up from the various Census returns.

Samuel Wait was bapt. c.1791 and Elizabeth c1802.

Samuel had an elder sister Ann bapt. c1789 and was alive 1871 and living with John Wait bapt. 4Feb1827. John married my GGrandfathers sister Mary 1829-1892? at St Paul's Parkend 2June1850.

Identified children of Samuel and Elizabeth were.....

Samuel 1829
Abraham 1832
Charlotte 1834
George 1836
Sarah 1839
Adelaide 1842
Joseph 1848 Living with brother John's family 1861 and 1871.

On checking, I was indeed, exagerating slightly. Its 1446 !
As I say, its on my Father's side (Baynton) & nothing to do with the Forest as they were all Somerset Farmers & Brewers

Thank for that, Bertha. Lizzie's second name was always referred to as Clementina in the family, and her eldest daughter's second name was also Clementina, so I'm betting that the index is slightly wrong. One day I'll splash out on the certificate (if Mum's not got it).

We have the Waites back to 1841 at Bradley Hill, Charlotte's parents were George and Susan(ah) (nee James). Georgre's parents were Samuel and Elizabeth (nee Vaughan). there were several Wait/Waite/Whaite/Waight families in that area and the variety of spelling makes for interesting searching!

I've also got John Jones' family back to 1841 in and around the Dymock area. His mother's maiden name was Elizabeth FORTY.

This is a photo of my grandmother Lizzie Clementina JONES and her family. I think that Lizzie is the little girl in the middle. I assume that the adults are my Gt-grandparents John Samuel JONES and Charlotte (nee WAITE). They lived at Two Bridges, Bradley Hill near Soudley. Charlotte's family came from Bradley Hill. John was born in Kempley, Glos.

As Lizzie was born in 1894 I would guess that the photo was taken around 1900 or so. Does anyone recognise any of the others or know anything of the family. I know that eventually there were 10 children, amongst the names I know are Tot (Dorothy?), Austin (born Alfred Austin), and Denis (or Dennis).

I know that I have cousins in the Forest, but have never made contact with them. I also know that one of them was killed in the Falklands War.
