Sydney George BULLOCK (reply)

Many thanks. I would be surprised if he was a driver, as I'm pretty sure there would have been no motor transport in the family pre-war. I think the navy reference must be to another S.G. Bullock. They were a very large family in the FOD, and probably elsewhere a common surname. The probate was granted to my paternal great-aunt (his sister) and my paternal aunt (his niece). Christopher Dent

Sidney Bullock, Popes Hill

Contributors to this site were kind enough to help me in my search for information about my great uncle, Frank Dent, 8th Gloucesters, who died in 1917 and is buried in Boulogne Eastern cemetery. The only other member of my immediate family involved in the First World War, as far as I am aware, was another great-uncle, Sidney Bullock. He survived the war, although, it was said, he was gassed and remained something of a recluse in his cottage at Popes Hill until his death in c.1960. His name is recorded in the list of FOD WW1 servicemen on this site, but there is no information there. Has anyone any ideas?
