Looking back at my 'ramblings' (Gloucestershire/Wiltshire dialect - don't sound their 'H's i.e. ELT/HELT, being Wiltshire born myself and Grandparents from Gloucestershire)

did notice the baptism at Twynings (just to re-cap)

Henry ELT, parents : Elizabeth & Thomas EVERIS (Servant) alias EVER - 1 April 1827

1841/1851/1861 census : ELLT/ELB/ELT (reply)

Hello Mpgriffiths,
thank you so much for all your help, you have been invaluable.
It took me a couple of reads of your info but yes I do believe that you have found my Helt's.
This family is rather complicated due to the different spellings of the name but yes I think you have nailed them down.
Once again thank you, I'm off to update my tree.
Regards

HELT/JENKINS/LIMBRICK (reply)

Many thanks for getting back to me. Neither of those trees are mine but I am in touch with both the owners.
my tree is under the name of carlier.

I have a copy of Henry Helt's birth cert and it says his father was henry Helt and his mother was elizabeth Hupole.
I have been unable to find any records under these names but I did find a marriage record for Henry ELT and Elizabeth HUSSEL in upton upon severn in oct 1839. These names are so close to the names on the cert I have that they must be one and the same.

thank you for confirming the details for Edward James Ody, I now need to confirm Linda Powell's details and find out why Henry and Harriet took them in, was this something that people did during that time and did they ever officially become Helts.
Once again thank you, any other Helt info would be gratefully received.

henry & harriet HELT, littledean 1881-1901

Hello everyone, I'm new on here so please bare with me.
I am looking for information on my great-great grandparents, Henry Helt and Harriet Emily Jenkins.
Henry was born in severnstock in 1846, Harriet was born in Littledean in 1855.
I know from the census that they were living in church st and then broad st between 1881 and 1901. They then moved to wigston magna, Leicestershire.
They moved back to the area sometime between 1911 and 1921 as Harriet died in Upton upon Severn in 1921 and Henry in 1923.
Henry was a boot maker but expanded his business to become a news agent as well, I think Harriet worked along side him but became a sub post mistress and grocer according to 1911 census.
Any information would be welcome but I am particularly interested in the fact that they took in a couple of children, looked after them and put them through school.
these children were Edward James ODY (born 1889 littledean) and Linda POWELL (born 1906 Newport). The family story is that Henry and Harriet adopted them both and in fact my granddad and nan remember them both from visits to the Helt family.
thanks in advance
