But you didn't explain why you'd chosen the Thomas family, so at the time I wrote the above I couldn't see a reason to change my stance.

yes the GlosBMD site is always worth a quick crossreferral, it's a very userfriendly yet usefull site on top of the others. This prior thread may be worth your reading, amongst other things it also mentions another excellent Glos Archives website.

On checking you have the right page but not the right husband for the 1869 marriage. John Sims appears on the same page and the reference is 6A/508.

I've ordered the certificate to see if that gives any more detail.

Thanks for that clarification. I couldn't find Albert Seth on ancestry, guess they don't have access to the records. Not used Gloucestershire BMD previously so that's another site to add to my bookmarks - very useful.

But could you please clarify how you came onto the Thomas surname? There's definitely a family connection with the Thomases, but is there a Rhoda Collier with them in a census? I can't seem to find an 1871?
