Hi, The Mary A MILES shown in the 1871 census listing here is my maternal Greatgrandmother - Mary-Ann MILES, her birth cert shows she was born in Lydney on 21.09.1866, father Charles MILES (pickler in tin works), mother Ester MILES (formerly HILLMAN). Mary-Ann MILES married Thomas ABBOTT-BECK in Hull, East Yorkshire on 13.06.1886. She lived in Hull for the rest of her life. In the 1901 census her brother John MILES (age 46, born Lydney) is staying at the same address in Hull. How Mary -Ann came to leave the Forest of Dean and live in Hull is a mystery, does anyone have any family information? I have some information on ABBOTT-BECKs if this is useful to anyone.

hi slowhands, well from discovering the voyce family line came from the forest of dean i have now discovered my husbands family line came from lydney. His g grandfather was David charles miles b 1891 swansea, his father was charles ( i think) alexander) miles 1860 from lydney who married a catherine edwards from swansea. charles a miles's father was again a charles miles b 1834 from Blakeney who married an esther and this is where i get confused I think his father was a john miles married to a sarah from blakeney this is where i have come undone on the tree , Is anyone researching this line of tree or know of information on this family, I am trying to get his tree finished before june 5th to give to his mum for her birthday. Any help will be very greatfully received. ( My husband knows absolutely nothing about this side of his family so will be a nice surprise.
