Colin

Very interesting - the deeper you look, the more involved the inter-relationships, Lucy Baldwin is a classic case.

I had not investigated the parents of Mirrium Parsons before your comments, but having found her baptism in 1857 I find I have - separately - both her parents Benjamin Parsons 1825 & 6th cousin 3 times removed Jane Tippins 1833 in my family tree, indeed if you go back 4 generations via her father William you get back to the same Thomas Wilce 1707 & Susannah Marfell 1706 I mentioned in my previous posting.

Benjamin Parsons 1825 was son of James Parsons 1794 & Mary Parker 1798 they had 8 children, their son Timothy 1816 married Ann Hall 1822 and their daughter Rhoda 1849 married Cornelius Brain 1848 son of Simeon Brain 1819 and Ann Marfell 1824.
James Parsons 1794 & Mary Parker 1798 also had a son James Parsons 1823 who married Theophillia Meredith and their daughter Mary 1847 married Timothy Yemm 1847 son of Amos Baldwin Yemm 1819 and 1st cousin 4 times removed Rebecca Marfell 1816.

The parents of James Parsons 1794 & Mary Parker 1798 were Thomas Parsons 1770 and the Lucy Baldwin you mentioned born 1771.Thomas 1770 & Lucy had 6 children. Their son John Parsons 1797 married my Great Great Great Great Aunt Ann Herbert 1797. Their son George 1804 married my Great Great Great Great Aunt Margaret Herbert 1806 - not sisters. Their son Ephraim 1817 married Amelia Baldwin 1817, daughter of Joseph Baldwin 1780 & Sarah Smart 1786. Joseph Baldwin 1780 being the brother of Lucy Baldwin 1771 who married Thomas Parsons 1770.................where we started. However I cannot end without adding a further Marfell connection - Lucy Baldwin's brother Moses Baldwin 1777 married my Great Great Great Great Great Aunt Lucy Marfell 1775.

My mother was told by her mother Jane Kate Treherne nee Marfell "never mention the Marfell family outside this house as wherever you are, there is sure to be one listening"

Unlike Jim, I didn't have any Wilce's in my family tree until I started looking at this thread - but I have a few now! My connection is through Miriam Parsons (1857), wife of William Wilce (1843) and her g-grandmother Lucy Baldwin. I make it we are 6th cousins once-removed!
Again (as Slowhands has commented elsewhere) it just shows how inter-related many of the Forest families were.

I can ask Aunt Babs or our Cousin Caroline (Bab's daughter). They will know. I will post the exact date then. We lived in Texas then and I remember my mom flying up but not sure of the date. I didnt think it was 1982 either. I do know my mom and Aunt Enid went to Canada first and settled in, then sent for the family. Don't know why your dad stayed behind but maybe I can get that information too.

thanks for the warning, I'll amend that. Although I use this e-mail addy just for webstuff not anything else and it's available all over the net so not too concerned but don't want to upset the apple cart!

I'm sure Elsie died around the mid 70's despite the post saying her death was registered in '82. Maybe my memory is playing tricks on me, unfortunately I don't know who to ask.....I'll see if one of my siblings has a better memory than me!

Does anyone have any idea what took the whole family off to Canada post war and my Dad stayed here in blighty?

You might like to know that you are my 9th cousin once removed. Not a close relationship but we are related. I have 228 Wilce's in my Family Tree. My main interest is the Marfell family.

If you go back 4 generations from the John Wilce 1817 who married Ester Cook in 1840 you come to Thomas Wilce 1707 who married Susannah Marfell 1706 on 15 Oct 1730.
