No - not the one I thought it was going to be. I have pasted below an extract of my reply to "Nomad" who assisted me with this :
"This has caused me to re-think who the William Marfell father is and now consider it is probably William Marfell born 1835 son of Aaron Marfell as he was a Farmer living in Drybrook, whereas other William Marfell's who were also farmers were farther away. We will never know as there are no other lines of approach".

Australian help has been received in the form of a registration number & web site address in order to immediately obtain the marriage certificate image, where Joseph Winifred Baldwin's father is shown as William Marfell - Farmer - this latter information assists in identification. Thanks

Hi Slowhands

The information including the allegation was on an A3 sheet sent to me by a researcher in connection with my "then" investigation into a Dubberley connection. I have recently been researching Baldwin connections together with "Turbo-Chef" and another respondent to this wonderful site. The sheet emerged from the files and has sparked renewed interest into this "alleged" connection to William Marfell. I will email the sheet to you if you are interested.
Thanks for the census detail, I had all but the 1861, which includes the Joseph Baldwin born abt 1864. I have pasted the 1881 Census below and you can see that Joseph is with Uncle Henry Sadler and Aunt by relation as well as marriage Charlotte nee Baldwin. In 1891 he was in Australia, hence the enquiry to Australian correspondents.

Australian help needed regarding a forester

I am seeking help regarding information available in Australia for a forester.
The background; Winifred Baldwin 1840/1867 East Dean, daughter of William Baldwin & Hannah Smart, married Richard Sadler & died in childbirth with their first child Eliza in 1867 in East Dean. Before she married Richard Sadler in Newent 1866, she had two illegitimate children, Frederick George Baldwin1862/1938 allegedly to a Reuben Meredith 1844/1924 and a Joseph Baldwin baptised Forest Church 25.12.1864. The father of Joseph is alleged to be William Marfell. Following Winifred’s death in 1867 Frederick & Joseph Baldwin lived with Richard Sadler’s brother Henry Sadler & Charlotte (nee Baldwin - Winifred’s sister) and can be found on census data with them. Joseph emigrated to Australia and married Mary Jane Clayton born 30.9.1866 Emerald Hill South Melbourne. They married 13.9.1890 North Melbourne. They had 12 children including a William Marfell Baldwin born & died 1905. The addition of Marfell as a middle name probably confirms the father of Joseph, but whilst the fathers name is not included in Joseph’s baptism, I wonder if any details are shown at Joseph’s marriage in Australia, hence the enquiry as I am trying to ascertain which William Marfell is the alleged father of Joseph Baldwin.
