No burial record of Daniel CAVANAUGH

Hello everyone, I would appreciate any ideas to find a death. My 3x gt grandfather, Daniel Cavanaugh was named on his daughter's baptism, June 1820, St. James,Bream, they lived Whitecroft. Jan. 1823, wife Margaret (nee King, from Lydney) marries at Awre (illegal as she declares herself spinster) and again June 1823, declaring herself a widow, to a Thomas Beach who was many years her junior. A son, Thomas Cavanaugh age 14, was buried Lydney, 1831 and she was buried Parkend 1850. There seems no trace of Daniel, a stone mason, and I can only think he died by accident and no body was recovered or am I being too fanciful?
