Henry MORSE (boxer morse) Aylburton (reply)

My great grandfather was Thomas George Morse b.1845, brother of a Henry Morse b.1856 who lived at 19 Upper Common, Aylburton until 1940. I think he went to America in the 1890s, returning in 1899. Was he the boxer Morse and why?

MORSE (Changes when using IGI Batch No's) (reply)

Chris

As discussed (off-line) it does seem Hugh WALLIS, IGI Batch No's site, is having problems at the moment 'Due to changes on the LDS Site and is currently unavailable'. Comments left by Users suggest amongst other things, the 'fancy changes' are not necessary. Still trying to work out the new system.

For more interesting history & photos of the Traveller's Rest see the excellent website
http://www.gloucestershirecamra.org.uk/pubs/glospubs/new/AllGlosPubsDatabase/AllGlosPub...

Sorry I cannot give a direct link but just enter "Aylburton" into the search box and six pubs are found, use "previous" & "next" buttons at base of each page to find the Traveller's Rest.

It may be of interest that in 1898 it was bought by the Anglo Bavarian Brewery (from Zummerzett !?) and sold lager; I thought that was a 70s invention in the Forest !
