I Don't know if there is any connection to the Emblings that you are researching, but there is a small lane leading off Ruspidge Road (in an easterly direction) that is known as Emblings Lane. On an Abstract of Title to my property dated July 1929, there is a plot of land shown at the head of this lane which was owned by E Embling.

Its nice to hear all bits of info about my family. I never had chance to really talk to my grandfather, Oliver Cook who lived in the High St as he died when I was 4.(Oliver's mother was Fanny Embling - Arthur's aunty). I grew up not knowing anything about this side of the family so it's really nice to be able to pass all the knowledge I have learned onto my son.

I used to live in Heywood Cinderford now known as Woodgate Rd. Arthur Embling was a near neighbour of ours, in fact he owned a large garden next door. His age suggests to me he was the Arthur listed in the 1901 census in Littledean where I believe he had relations who would visit via The Ruffit.

Arthur worked for many years at the EDISON SWAN cable works at Lydbrook, his wife's name was I believe Nellie although as a little boy at the time I was probably not supposed to use it. He was I nice genleman who has long since departed this world. He did not have any children that I can recall.

Court Farm is opposite the George ( now renamed as The Belfry ) on the left hand side as you travel out of Littledean, before the left hand bend lead up towards Littledean Hill/ modern Cinderford.

Embling Family, Littledean/Cinderford

Does anyone have any information about the Embling family who, according to the 1881 census, were farmers in Littledean. Their address was Broad Street Court Farm and apparently the farm was 80 acres.

John Embling (born in Hook, Wiltshire 1827) was my gt-gt grandfather. He married Mary Ann Hayward in 1850 and they had at least 9 children. He died in 1885.

I also believe there may have been other properties owned by him in Cinderford High Street. If anyone has any info about the family, or if there are any other Embling relations out there, please let me know.
