Hello Terry,

I know that 'my' ALICE JAMES had a brother MAURICE JAMES and a father JAMES JAMES. I am assuming that the REUBEN MORRIS JAMES in the 1881 census (above) is MAURICE JAMES. Correspondence from a L James, whose father was Maurice, gives the name ALICE RIDLER living in Wales. I am now looking for a marriage (probably in Caerwent) of ALICE PRISCILLA WILLIAMS to ? RIDLER.
This is what I am working on at the moment but I will keep you theory in mind.

I'm looking for the marrage of a alice jones born 30/4/1865 lydney her parents were george jones and mary anne jones nee reeks baptised 1/6/1845 tiddenham now george died and mary anne married richard james at chepstow 22/12/1872 richard baptised at bream 8/11/1818 he took alice as a step daughter
Did alice take the james's name? and is this possibly the alice your looking for

THOMAS WILLIAMS, b. 1863 in Tidenham, married ALICE JAMES at Woolaston and had two children, THOMAS HENRY WILLIAMS, bap. 1896 at Woolaston and ISABELLA WILLIAMS bap. 1894 at Woolaston. Thomas died in 1896 aged 33 years leaving a wife and two small children.
I am fairly certain that she remarried but cannot find a marriage for ALICE WILLIAMS after 1896 in the FoD area. One theory is that she may have moved to the Cardiff area.
I would appreciate any information.
