Hello Joanne

just going thro some of the old messages...hence the belated reply to your note.

The East Dean Grammar school photo, with the Latin teacher, Mr Aveston at the left of the back row, is early 1930's.

There is an almost identical photo (of a different set of players), dated 1935,
in issue 34 of the old scholars Oak Leaves booklet. Mr Aveston looks slightly older in that one, hence the early 1930's estimate of the photo in question.

Hi Slowhands,

Well I am thinking that the young man on the left of the back row looks like my Grampy, Thomas Jones. I know that he went to a grammar school. He was born 14 August 1931 so I was hoping that you were going to say 1940's but you did say you were only guessing. What do you think? Does anyone know who anyone in this photo is?

I've just been taking a look at some of the photos over on the photo board. There is one of a football team that some comments have been made saying that it could be East Dean Grammar School's Team.

Does anyone know what approx year this photo comes from? I am thinking that I recognise two people in the pic and am interested to know if it could be them!
