I've just looked back in on this thread. My, you all have been busy!

Don't know about you getting your paperwork in order Fred, and sorting out the info,, I think I need to get my head in order!! So much info to digest. Not complaining though.

Simone I think I have Jerimiah Griffiths living in a Beach household in Monmouth, his sister is married to a Samuel? Beach, I'll get back with the census info.

Hubert Beach lived in the same street, St Marys Street, he was a tailor, as I believe other family members were.

I'll have to sort all the info out. I collected much of it thinking that my family must come from the Forest, but my Samuel's and Benjamin's go back to the area around Garway and Grosmont, and later Monmouth.

Beach family certainly figures a lot in Parish Records in Gloucester County Records at Gloucester. I saw them when researching my own family. My focus was All Saints Newland and surrounding parishes. Bream, Coleford and Clearwell which were originally chapels of ease for Newland, later parishes in their own right. Bream 1813 for instance, I believe. If you can get there, will be very rewarding.

I have found James and Mary with their daughter's Hannah and Margaret living in the Forest in 1861- so USA was just a flying visit then!

I have had a look at the 1860 and 1870 US census and have not found this family, which leads me to suspect that they did not remain in the US. It is always possible that the census taker mis-spelled the name and I did not find them.

Oh wow Gill! Thank you for that, I had no idea.

It seems quite spooky really because they departed from Liverpool which is where I am! All my Forest relations are on mum's side of the family but I was born and bred just outside of Liverpool, and all my dad's side are from Liverpool. Really is a small world isn't it!

Hi Rheola

I'm not sure I can be much help as I haven't researched the Beach family to any extent, and my connection is not direct, but having said that I may have a sibling of your Jospeh in my tree.

I have a direct connection to the Howell family, Henry Howell b c 1777 married Susannah Jones. They had a daughter Mary b c 1807 who married James Beach b c 1816. James and Mary had children James b c 1839 and Silvea/Silvia b c 1840. Given that your Joseph's mother is also Silvia and she married James in 1815, I suspect that my James is a son of James and Silvia too, especially as James has a daughter named Silvia too.

Sorry not much help, but obviously a possible sibling for Joseph.

Hi again, Is there anyone out there researching the Beach family of the Coleford /Newland area .I have found that my 2x great grandfather Joseph Beach's parents were James Beach c1798 and Sylvia Williams . I have found a James Beach born to parents Thomas Beach and Mary Priest.I have then found a possible match of 2 sets of parents for Thomas , I'm not sure how to verify my info now . I am also looking for any siblings for Joseph , but no luck as yet, but probably wasn't an only child !!! I would appreciate any help at all .
