<title>Ruardean Church (reply)</title>
<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Ruardean Church<br />
<a href="http://www.british-history.ac.uk/report.asp?compid=23261#s8">http://www.british-history.ac.uk/report.asp?compid=23261#s8</a></p>
<p>Corn and hay tithes in Ruardean belonged to the precentor of Hereford cathedral as appropriator of Walford church, of which Ruardean was a chapelry, and small tithes to the vicar of Walford</p>
<p>The parish registers survive from 1538 but most marriages between 1690 and 1735 took place at Walford.</p>

<title>Walford (Church? Chapel?) Ruardean (reply)</title>
<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>There is a postcard in the church (St Michaels and All Angels) with a line drawing of the church on. If you want to let me have your email address I can attach it to an email as I don't think I can post it on this website? Not sure how well it will come out but worth a try.</p>

<title>Walford (reply)</title>
<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Slowhands,</p>
<p> Thank you for that info. On my parish map <a href="http://www.genuki.org.uk/big/eng/GLS/GLSImgMap1.html(parish">http://www.genuki.org.uk/big/eng/GLS/GLSImgMap1.html(parish</a> boundaries and place name spellings relate to the 19th century&quot;) there is no parish in Gloucestershire shown that fits your description. I guess that means it is in Wales? I haven't found a map that shows Walford.</p>
<p> What I want to find, if it exists, is a photo or a painting or a sketch of the chapel or church, for use in my &quot;History.&quot;</p>
<p> Is there a chart somewhere which lists the dates for formation and dissolution of the various parishes? I haven't found it.</p>
<p> Again, thank you for your assistance.</p>

<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Walford is a parish north of Lydbrook / English Bicknor and west of Ruardean.</p>
<p>So that s the geography sorted !</p>
<p>Now all you need to know is the time line........</p>
<p>i.e. when each parish came into existance etc.</p>

<title>Walford (Church? Chapel?) Ruardean</title>
<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>I am not clear about Walford. I see marriages there in 1695. Was there a church or chapel of Walford? Was it located in Ruardean? I understand that it was an extension of Monmouth? Can somebody explain it please?</p>
