Thanks slowhands , I'm hoping to visit Coleford this summer , armed with my camera ! looking at censuses my family and my husbands (Coleford again) were neighbours for years , so plenty to find . This is a marvellous site , I've found so much since I joined , and it still has so much to offer best wishes rheola

Coalway Road leads from Lords Hill, Coleford out to Coalway.

There are several Lane End's that form a strip to the East of Coleford running North to South, i.e Broadwell Lane End, Coalway Lane End. Tricky !!!

You say that John and Elizabeth have at least 2 children. Checking the Parish Records I see that these are Emily (1888)and Albert (1895 who dies the same night).
After a fruitless search for Elizabeth and John I tried to track Emily and have come up with this in the 1901 Wales Census.

Emily Robbins abt 1888 Coleford, Gloucestershire, England Daughter West Dean Monmouthshire
Elizabeth Furven abt 1869 Lane End; Coleford Wife West Dean Monmouthshire
James Furven abt 1875 Lane End; Coleford Head West Dean Monmouthshire
Sydney Furven abt 1900 Lane End; Coleford Son West Dean Monmouthshire

Although Emily is listed as daughter, on the actual Census she is listed as step daughter to James. They live at Lane End Coleford. When Elizabeths' and Johns' child Albert was baptised in 1895 it gives the address Coalway Road which I believe is one and the same as Lane End. (I'm sure a 'local' will put me straight on this!)
Could John have died and Elizabeth re married?

This of course may be a total red herring but perhaps worth looking into further?

Rob(b)ins Coleford

I have information about my greatgrandfather Henry Rob(b)ins and his family living in Coleford , but I'm looking for any info on 2 of his siblings . John born abt 1865 South Cerney (Cirencester ) and Elizabeth (Lizzie ) also born in the same area 1858 abt. I have Elizabeth in 1871 , in Gloucester with her sister Louisa Etheridge and family , no sign in 1881 , but she's still single and in Coleford with her family in 1891 ! lost again in 1901 .
John (occupation Tailor )married his stepsister Elizabeth Beach , found children born in Coleford in 1880's , 1 in 1895 , a big gap , but where are they in 1891 and 1901 ? Looked for them in both England and Wales , but no sign of them . Is there anyone with these people in their research ? ANY information would be very much appreciated . regards Rheola
