Who was Anne HAWKINS ? (reply)

I have Anne Hawkins as mother to illegitimate child Lucy Hawkins b c 1814. Lucy ,married William (Greatley/ Grateley) Watkins in 1838 at Walford. I have Lucy and the family on each census.

I can't work anything more out for her mother though..

Does anyone else have this lady in their tree... or have any clues as to who she is? I have looked at the parish records but can't pinpoint the right one :(

Thanks

William Watkins c 1815/1816 parents? (reply)

Hi

He was living on Ex-parochial lands, St Brevails in 1841.
Slowhands kindly found the parents William and Ann for me,as shown on the previous thread and I've always been pretty confident about it , but I was just curious now to see him living next to a William Watkins old enough to be his father. I wonder if dad could have married twice, although the 2 girls with him Caroline and Elizabeth were baptised to William and Elizabeth not William and Ann.

Probably will be difficult to sort this due to popularity of the names at that time and the different name, Greatley, they were using on later census returns.

Thanks for looking anyway.

William Watkins c 1815/1816 parents? (reply)

Where was he living? Do you know where he was born? Assuming the census is at least vaguely accurate, you would be looking around 1816

William Watkins c 1815/1816 parents?

I have William Watkins married to Lucy Hawkins 1838 Walford. Marriage states father also William. I also have possible parents for William as William Watkins and Ann James but can't confirm for definite.

However in 1841 William age 25 is living next door to William and Elizabeth Watkins ages 60. HO107; Piece 364; Book: 11;Folio: 6; Page: 7. It seems more likely then that he is living next to his parents?
However I can't tie up a baptism for him to William and Elizabeth.
Can any fresh eyes see one in the Parish records?

By the way this family have also used the name Greatley/Grateley, previous thread http://www.forum.forest-of-dean.net/index.php?mode=entry&id=8525

Thanks
