Is it possible he was born in Australia? I have William Henry Lewis born 1857 in Western Australia. His father was in the British army and was sent to Australia before the birth of William. Not long after that the family returned to England.

Thank You very much for you info and help as i have the same Alice Lewis in my family tree she is my Great Great grandmother and i have her Wedding ring also Colin Meeks bible, So any more info whould be great as i seem to have got stuck now.

I have Alice Olive Lewis born 1857 Ruardean in my Family Tree as she married Enos Meek, also born 1857 Ruardean on 10 October 1881 Drybrook. They had 3 children as you can see from the census :
