I came across a Newspaper article from the Western Mail (Cardiff, Wales), Saturday, May 4, 1889 which details the trial at Littledean of the fourteen people involved in killing the Bears at  Ruardean in 1889. It is quite interesting reading but more importantly it has people’s names and fines.

Thomas Morse Price who was a well known figure in the Methodist Circuit in Whitecroft and Yorkley and was a grocer in the area.

It is written by his son in law Rev. George Lawrence.

Richard Morse Selected Poems.pdf

A selection of poems of yet another of my ancestors Richard Morse who published 'Lays of the Forest' in 1840 from which I have selected a few.  He was from Yorkley and called 'Bard of the Forest'. I got these poems from a Morse relation in Australia, the originals are in Gloucester Library and very frail, so they were quite a find.
