"Bowson House" often appears in PRs, Census and Trade Directory reports, along with various wellknown surnames eg Hale & Teague.
I suspect it was of some size, and being near to the pits I wonder if it was sometimes a lodging house for engineers and mine officials while working in the area ?.

The excellent Wild Swan railway book "The Forest of Dean Branch Vol 2", by Ian Pope of Lightmoor site fame, carries many old photos & history of the Bowson mine and adjoining areas.
