Many thanks for the links, and for such a nice and unexpected welcome to the forum.

The links are fascinating, not to say astonishing. I had no idea that 'marriageable age' had fluctuated so much over the years. So my original anxiety about the possibility of a 15-year-old getting wed was probably unfounded.

Shall continue to pursue the family. I thought I'd done well to work back to the earliest census, but one can obviously go back a lot further - with perseverance, and the assistance of forum members !
