It didn't even enter my head that it could be Latin. Now I'm wondering why the creator of the tree wasn't consistent with using 'b' or 'n'. Oh dear, I really thought flourished meant died ha! Clearly I've confused it with perished. Never mind, at least I have some clarity now. Thanks for the help, much appreciated.
