Belated but heartfelt THANKS Slowhands from me and my mother for all your clearly considerable effort on this enquiry. So it seems we don't have a Doctor Wright in our family, if we did and particularly so recent we'd have clearly know about him. Wishfull thinking perhaps but I've only recently discovered some Wright "cousins" in our adopted home town of Cinderford that we'd never known about at all, so it seemed a possible.

ps please don't risk crumbling any of your valued Mercurys for me in future, unless that is you intend to digitise them. If you have a mad moment and decide to do this then I'll gladly let you have the half dozen or so 1920s copies which my sister liberated for me when they left the old premises.
