VIMPANY, sons of Whitecroft who fell in WW1, RIP. (General)
Hi, It's been some time since I visited the Forest of Dean site. I am one of the few surviving members of the Vimpany clan. Mr great grandfather changed the ending of our surname making the Melbourne, Australian branch unique.
Your soldier is Isaac Edmund Parsons Vimpany, son of Richard Thornton Vimpany and Emma Jemima Parsons as you have found out.
You wondered why he enlisted in Wales. You can find the family in the 1911 Wales census at East Dean.
I would love to get a copy of the photo you found. REgards Judith
