Jessamine cottage, Bream (General)

Sorry - no info at all - just a quote from a lady who claims to have Shadrach Jenkins personal journal.

"Shadrach & Sarah lived at Jessamine Cottage Bream with their children. Shadrach kept a journal recording the main events of his life, which is now a much treasured family heirloom."

I'm finding it very hard to pin down the person who says they have this diary - I would love to transcribe it for anyone who shares Shadrach and Sarah as ancestors.

Another snippet from Shadrach's diary suggests

"He started work when he was 9 years of age, minding doors at Brunswick Coal Pit, Mosley Green, 3 miles away from home for 6 old pence a day."

It is possible this is a genuine journal I suppose.

The Shadrach Jenkins referred to is son of Thomas Jenkins x Maria Priest, born 1831, brother to Samuel Jenkins mine owner, and married to Sarah Davis in 1856 at Lydbrook. There are plenty of posts in the archives about this family.

I am not a native of the area, so am trying to learn the historical geography as well as the social and family history!

Many thanks in advance for any hints or tips anyone can give.

Janet
