Researching STERRYs of Longhope and neighbouring area. (General)

SO no obvious direct connection between the aforementioned Hiram Sterry and George Sterry at the top of this thread, but the Sterrys have been in Longhope (and neighbouring Huntley albeit perhaps to a lesser extent) since at least 1703 wrt this site's 300+ Sterry/Sterrey PRs.
For more PRs I see the surname has also been spelt locally as Sterray, and Stirry/Stirrey etc in earlier days , this couple appears to be the start of the Longhope line, purely judging from the oldest Longhope/Huntley PRs that I've found today, so by no means an exhaustive search;

Re name spelling variations, there is a Richard STYRRYE baptism b1580 in Ruardean within this site's PRs. Re early PRs for Longhope Church, it should still be remembered that unlike some Forest Churches within the "inner" high Forest, Longhope had a Church long before the 1500s. The excellent Longhope Village website explains it's existence back to Domesday times, see
http://www.longhopevillage.co.uk/history/church/
I see there is now a fledgling Huntley Village website, which shows Huntley's beautifully sited and appointed church is of similar ancient origins, see
http://www.huntleyvillage.co.uk/information/church/

I suspect this line has already been covered within this forum, but having found these PRs it seems a shame not to show them, hopefully will help the Sterry researchers in some small way.

And I thought researching the Jones name was tricky !!
