Wigpool Iron Mine Accident 1865 (General)
From the BNA, The Gloucester Journal of Saturday 10 June 1865 contains a fairly lengthy account of the resumed inquest concerning the deaths of Miles SYMONDS and Cornelius MARFELL. The accident took place on 8th May at the Wigpool Collieries. The two men appear to have been thrown from a bond following a mechanical failure in the winding engine house. A verdict of accidental death was brought in although some pointed remarks about how the accident could have been avoided were made by the jury. I have a download if you would like more details.
