The Letters of Administration (General)
Remember when i asked about the surname SIBRANCE begin connected to my JoanJoanae Joanna Joo who married Guileilmi ELSMORE 1674, Slowhands well have had it confirmed that is indeed her surname. Now all i need is to find her duaghter in law Margarettae/Margaret ? surname who was married to Guielmi/William ELSMORE Abt. 1698.
What I found out about JoanJoanae Joanna Joo SIBRANCE was this, you might be able to explain what a "The Letters of Administration" is to us please.
This what I was told.
Guileilmi ELSMORE and Joan/Joanae/Joanna/Joo/Joanae SIBRANCE never left wills but did leave behind a "The Letters of Administration".
The Letters of Administration are forms into which the names are added.
They don't give much detail and are difficult to read. The one belonging to Joseph was proved in the Court of the Bishop of Gloucester in 1728 by
John Elsmore his eldest son.
This, I think, confirms what we know but gives no other details only to say that John will administer Joseph's estate according to the law.
The second, belonging to Joan, is prove by William, her eldest son, in 1732 and is exactly the same as that of Joseph.
It shows Joan, wife of William buried in October 1686. The document does name Joan as Joan Sibrance als Elsmore so we have the right one.
It is possible that it took that long for the Letters of Administration to be granted as have heard that there was corruption and bribery in the Courts at the time.
