St Johns Church, Cinderford - can anyone help? (General)
Having worked out where Plot A is (my maternal grandmother was buried in the same)it was no problem to find the Hale's grave. They were one of the most prominent families in Cinderford in their day so the grave reflected their status. The inscriptions read /In/ Loving memory of/ Fanny Elizabeth/ Beloved wife of Joseph Hale JP/ of Bilson House Cinderford/ Born at Caerleon Mon Aug. 25th 1832/ Died at Cinderford March 28th. 1919/ "Until the day break and the shadows flee away."/ Cant. 11.17/ "A marwoleath ni bydd mwyach"/ Rev. XXII IV.
/Also in loving memory of/ Joseph Hale M.E. J.P./ of Bilson House Cinderford/ Born at Risca Mon November 16th. 1835/ Died at Cinderford December 31st 1927/ I have fought the good fight I have finished my course/ I have kept the faith
Also buried in adjoining graves are two of their sons Alfred Edward Hale and Eustace John Hale.
email me and I can email you photos of the grave and inscriptions.
The forum works!
