HYDE SMITH living Littledean (General)
Hi Slowhand
I'd like to thank you again for your help, and let you know that your hunch was totally correct (recieved the birth certificate today) for Lovell Glendower Smith (his mother is Olive Smith of Albion Place, High St Cinderford), and due to the other documents I have this is final proof that this refers to my Great Grandmother. I have applied today for her birth cert. Lovells birth certificate does not have a father or fathers occupation listed. I'm going to search as best I can for someone with the surname Glendower, in that area as I'm guessing that the first and middle names may have been taken in leu of a marriage certificate from the father (it's certainly a random name otherwise). Examining the census data you sent it seems that Olive did not marry for some time, in fact its becoming clear that she may never have legally married, although she married frequently enough, nuff said.

I have spent hours digestng the information that you posted, and am amazed at your ability to track so many people at once, extraordinary; I am only now getting a fuller picture of the connections you made after going over it repeatedly then printng it out as a big flow chart.
I'm having trouble tracking everyone but think that the next people I'll pursue are Albert Smith and Rhoda Goode. I need to find out if Henry Goode was a blue baby (my Grandmother told me often that Great Granny had a brother who was a blue baby). Guess thats gonna be near impossible to find out though? Perhaps deaths, I think he died young as a consequence.
On another note, some years ago we stayed in Little Dean and my Grandparents walked down the road (probably to Cinderford) where they examined issues from a local newspaper. They came across a story of a woman who was shot at by her husband whilst seeing a man off at the train station (I believe he was off to the first world war). If anyone has come across that story or knows what newspaper that may have been from, please feel free to post me... My great grandmother had a clock with a bullet hole in it, which she repeatedly claimed had saved her life. I believe the two things are connected.
Any thoughts are welcome, and Slowhands I was serious about the xmas present (I recently printed an illustration from my my mothers great Grandmothers autograph book (1906-1920) an original ink sketch of what became a very famous tinker tailor soldier sailor cartoon image (of dogs in the roles, it will be familier to some as it was very well known back in tha day), I'd love to send you a copy of the print (I'm an artist printmaker so a coy means hand printed from the block))... Just a thank you thought really, you have helped me so greatly...
Regards
Lawrence
