MANSELL, Morse, Ruardean Hill area (General)

Hi again,

Thank you for that slowhands - I'm understanding a little more now.

Before I venture further finding childrens baptisms and siblings etc I want to do everything I can to be sure that I have the right family this time. There are several Mary Coopeys, Mary Mansells and Sarah Coopeys in the area, at a similar time so I am nervous to grab a family and run with it so to speak. Here's what I can piece together - does it make sense, do the locations match up and can you spot anything that doesn't sound quite right...if so please tell me, so I can re-think.

1879 (approx) a Sarah Coopey born, either Churcham (1901 cen) or Gloucester (1911 cen)

1881 (approx) a Tom Cook Mansell born, either Ruardean (1901 cen) or East Dean (1911 cen)

1899 Mary Coopey born, Berry Hill (1901 cen) or Weston under Penyard (1911 cen)

1899 Tom Cook Mansell and Sarah Coopey marry, Weston under Penyard. His father is William Mansell. Her father is Thomas Coopey.

1901 family living at Morse Lane, Ruardean. Comprises:
Thomas Mansell - age 21 Coal miner
Sarah Mansell - age 22
Mary Mansell - age 1
Francis Mansell - under 1 month

1911 family living at Harry Hill, Drybrook. Comprises:
Thomas Mansell - age 30 Coal miner Hewer. at Colliery.
Sarah Mansell - age 30
Mary Mansell - age 11
William Mansell - age 4 born East Dean
Harold Mansell - age 3 born East Dean
George Mansell - age 1 born East Dean
The census shows the couple have had 7 children, 4 of which are living and 3 who have died. It says they have been married 11 years.

So, theoretically in the census' of 1891, 1881 Tom and Sarah would be living separately. I am struggling to find them with family that match the information from the marriage entry in the parish record. Can anyone spot either/both of them in 1881 or 1891? I can only see a Sarah that fits with the info, as daughter of Joseph and Isabella Coopey - not Thomas as the parish marriage record states. Help!

I need to obtain the marriage certificate for Mary Coopey and Birt Jones, in Westbury on Severn, does anyone know which record office I would have to get it from? I've always ordered everything from the GRO direct but it might be quicker to go directly to the office and pick it up.

Thank you so much for helping me with this, it is still very emotional - I feel scared to hope that it will turn out ok and that I will be able to find that this Mary Coopey turned Mansell *is* the right one but I am desperate for it to be so.

Rachel x
