CLARKE of Newnham (General)
My g.g.grandfather was Richard Clarke. He was born in the Forest in 1820. He later moved to the Pontypool area although he returned to Blakeney for periods of time and was living there at the time of his death in 1882. In 1841 he is 20, living in Blakeney with William Clarke, born in 1781 and Henry Clarke, born in 1833. So three males, ages 60, 20 and 8 are living alone. There's a story there but it hasn't revealed itself yet. I did find a marriage between a widower, William Clarke and an Elixabeth Griffiths in about 1815 but I don't know yet if this is the same William.
I also don't know if my family is the same as yours . . . The above named Richard later had a daughter whose birth is noted as hannah maria but is afterward always "Annie Maria", later Workman. Her sister Mary Ann is my great grandmother.
My side of this family is pretty much evenly devided between the States and Canada. We did have some Australian relations but their names have been lost in the mists od time.
