MORGANS of Steam Mills Cinderford (General)
by ROSEPIP, Monday, April 07, 2008, 06:29 (6081 days ago)
I am researching my mother in laws family tree, but as every one is no longer around i have come to a halt
She was born to Lucy May James and Alfred Kitson in 1917
she was called Linda Gertrude Kitson
Alfred disappeared around her birth and she was adopted by her great Aunt Gertrude and Uncle Frank Cox (took on the name of molly)
Lucy ( ususally called Maisie) then lived with a Mr Morgan and they had several children. she died in 1971 , and they actually married before she died
One of their children owned a fish and chip shop in steam mills and i think had a daughter called Mandy who was very ill and made the local newspapers
another was in the coal mining industry and i think one was called ashley
I only remember this very vaguely when we visited in 1971 after the funeral of Maisie
i am just trying to find some names to complete my tree
can anyone help or suggest where i may find info
Thanks
Rose Pip

It has helped quite a lot , I know that there are other siblings , but they were all born in the 1920/30's and could still be alive.(tricky one) I did meet them in 1971 when Lucy Kitson died, but of course i have forgotten most of the names. it all happened just after i was married and mother in law met her half brothers and sisters for the first time
at least i can now update the family tree, with a few more names that were distantly part of her life
it is to be a surprise for my sister in law for her 60th birthday
so thanks again for all of your help

Hello,
I have just been reading your correspondence with "Slowhands" and was amazed to see lots of my husband's ancestors and relatives mentioned in your exchanges of e-mails.
I am sure that David would like to respond to you personally but just had to send you a notice of his intention to do so.
David's Grandfather is Arthur Morgan and his Grandmother is Hannah Morgan.
The children that you mention are all v familiar to us. Stanley Morgan emigrated to South Africa and we are in touch with his Grandaughter, Elizabeth Jane who lives there still.
I know that David will contact you asap.
Bye for now - best wishes from Jeanette.

Pete Morgan ran the chip shop in Steam Mills with his wife nd family. They had 3 children Tina, Mandy (yes she was very ill - a tumour on her spine) and Stephen.
Pete died within the last 5 years and I think Vi (his widow) now runs a chip shop in Cinderford.
