I am trying to find any information about my g.g.grandfather William Morgan. According to his marriage certificate 23.12.1852 his father's name was also William.
All census records state that he was born in Bream,
Very little information I know, but I really would appreciate any help.

Was your William Morgan born approx. 1826 and married Eleanor Pritchard? Born in 1826, Breams? He may be my g+g+uncle. If this is the correct William, his mother was Diana Morgan, brother to Mary, uncle to my g+grandmother Carmalla Morgan Fletcher. If he had children Carmalla, Ernest, Alfred, Tryphonia, Zepporah, Abijah, WWilliam and John. I may be able to help with some information and put you in touch with other relatives.

Hi,
Yes it appears to be the same William Morgan. The children are the same - can't be any other family with those names!! My husband's g.grandfather was Abijah b.1855. He married Clara Barwick in 1877. They moved to Castleford in Yorkshire (where we now live) about 1880. My husband's grandmother Zippora was born on 21.11.1882.
I have been in touch with Dorothy - she gave me the address of this forum. She also told me of Diana possibly being William's mother. I do know that his father was also named William as he is on his marriage certificate on 23.12.1852. So today I am going to piece together the information.
In August I am going to the Forest of Dean to try and find the baptism records. Any other information you may have would be very helpful - let me know if there is anything else I may have for you.
Regards

Good morning - Dorothy was exactly who I was going to put you in touch with, and unfortunately I probably can't offer you much more help. From what little I have found, the line is Mary (unmarried) to Diana (unmarried) to Mary (umarried) and William (married). Mary II was unmarried and had Carmalla who in turn married my g+grandfather. Carmalla and John Fletcher emmigrated to USA in 1871, had a total of 10 children. Carmalla passed away in 1899 and John in 1905. John was born and raised in Woolaston. From what I can discover, the baptism records for Diana lists no father, the record for Mary II lists William as father, occupation collier, but the name is crossed out. Let me know if I can be of further assistance.
Regards, Kathy
