Gwyneth Harper, Ruardean, c 1930's (General)

by mountainash, Tuesday, May 06, 2008, 17:01 (6051 days ago)

My Father Reg Dunn who was born in Lydbrook in 1922 has asked me to try and trace the where abouts of Gwyneth Harper. Dad and Gwyneth both attended East Dean Grammar School in the 1930's. They were good friends and were also related. They were referred to as cousins but he feels it was most likely 2nd or 3rd cousins. Gwyneth lived in Ruardean.

My father is 85 at living in Australia. I'm hoping to at least be able to tell my father what happened to Gwyneth and if she is still living.

Pam Warburton. NSW Australia.

My posting was not meant to contravene any guide lines or distress any families it was just to get information about a school friend of an 85 year old man who asked me to do this on his behalf.

Harpers do not appear on our immediate family tree so have drawn a blank there.

Could you be helpful in telling me the best way to find old friends of my fathers if this forum isn't the way to do it.

Pam Warburton.

HARPER Lydbrook / Ruardean

by slowhands @, proud of his ancient Dean Forest roots, Tuesday, May 06, 2008, 20:32 (6051 days ago) @ mountainash

Harper is a well established name in this area; I'm not sure of your Dunn line but as you say it is more than possible that the link is a little indirect - by a marriage to a Knight, Matthews, Watkins etc

Equally I grew up with many "cousins" who my research now tells me should to be family friends :-(

My maternal G Grandmother was a Knight from Ruardean so that could be a connection I'll explore that side of the family.

Many thanks, Mountainash.

HARPER m KNIGHT Lydbrook / Ruardean

by mountainash, Tuesday, May 06, 2008, 21:34 (6051 days ago) @ slowhands

Thanks so much for that information. My G Grandmother Amelia Knight had a younger brother Edward James Knight born 1850. He could be the father of the bride in your down load. Gwyneth Harper could easily be the daughter of the 1907 marriage of Gertrude Knight and Leonard Harper. This is a great start for me.

Cheers, Mountainash.

Thanks for all the info you sent last night. I'll update my tree now. One question regarding Catherine Knight (1847) & Absalom Trigg did they have any children?

Cheers, Mountainash.

I cannot see any on Census data - that sadly does not rule out children who are born and die between censuses....
