Unconnected Wilces (General)

by grahamc ⌂ @, West Oxfordshire, UK, Saturday, May 10, 2008, 03:50 (6048 days ago)

I have two Wilce families in my tree that I have been unable to connect to the many other Wilces I have and wonder whether anyone might be able to shed any light on them:

1: Isaac Wilce (b1827, Drybrook) married Elizabeth James in 1848; his parents were John & Ann - I have lots on his descendants but would like to establish identity of his father and ancestors that might link into mine.

2: Thomas Wilce (b~1720) and married Ann Edy in Ruardean, 12/5/1745; they had (at least) eight children (Thomas, Hannah, John, Richard,George Jonathan, William & James between 1747 & 1763). I've been unable to determine ancestors of Thomas or spouses and descendants of his children.

Would be grateful for any more info on the above, however small.

Thomas WILCE 1717 Ruardean

by wilcer, Sunday, April 05, 2009, 21:19 (5717 days ago) @ slowhands

Another theory on Thomas Wilce 1717's parents, if he is the one of the 11 Jan 1717 christening, son of Thomas and Hannah:

Record_ID: 39255
Entry_Number:
Year: 1712
Month: Oct
Day: 18
Grooms_Surname: WILLIAMS
Grooms_Forenames: Thomas
Grooms_Residence: Ross
Brides_Surname: HALL
Brides_Forenames: Hannah
Brides_Residence: Bromyard
Licence_or_Banns: Licence
Officiating_Minister: Jo Harvey Rector
Event: Marriage
Register_Reference: AA33/2
Parish_Chapel: Weston under Penyard
Soundex_Groom: W452
Soundex_Bride: H400

Rather than Hanna Terret. As Thomas and Hannah's first child, Hannah, was christened 30 Nov 1712, this marriage a month previously might be a little less likely, but not impossible.

Thanks to ChrisW and Slowhands for their help. Still no sign of baptism of the John Wilce (who possibly married Ann Jordan) b~1801 (ref. 1841 census).
