Accident in Newent c1917 (General)

by chrishowell @, Coleford, Gloucestershire, Monday, May 12, 2008, 11:49 (6048 days ago)

I am trying to find information regarding an fatal accident in the Newent area, reportedly in 1917, to a young child whose name was Freddie Gregory. Details are scarce but it seems that he was either killed accidentally by a cousin, or else by a 'tramp-like' man. Any help would be greatly appreciated as, if this is true, then he would have been my uncle.
Thanks

Correct. Edith Gregory was my mother.
I have been given to understand that there was a child, older than Arthur, called Fred or Freddie who was killed by accident(?) in, or around, 1917 at which time his father, F C Gregory was in the Royal Navy - I have a copy of his service certificate.
Thanks for the swift response

Frederick Caleb Gregory and Mary Louise Gregory (Elliott) were my grandparents and I am led to understand that they may have been the parents of Freddie. Thanks for the swift response

As the death was registered at Gloucester I would surmise that either the accident occured in Newent and he died at Gloucester Hopital, or the accident was in Gloucester.

Gloucestershire Archives hold the Gloucester Upper Division Coroners reports from 1917-1966.
